The president implements and supports laws, and he must make ethical decisions when it comes to law making. This could make or break a presidency because it’s how presidents make people happy. Even though it’s impossible to please everyone, the president must put forth the best effort to make the country prosperous. Another important job of the president is leading the military and waging war. It’s not an easy decision to wage war, and the reasons for it can be difficult to understand. The president has the power to send troops anywhere at any time. Also, the president also holds responsibility of secrecy when it comes to holding confidential information, whether it be about the military or national security, etc. Furthermore, the president is an influencer of public opinion. He can easily sway public opinion through reciting speeches or making propaganda. Public opinion of this nature can even run worldwide. Countries involved with America, such as through trade or immigration, depend on the performance of the president to succeed. Foreign relations thrive when the president is diplomatic. There are multiple other tasks the president has to attend to, but the ones mentioned are the most important
The power of persuasion is one of the most important characteristics to obtain, the president must be able to bargain with others who share power with him/her. This isn’t done with a withy or charming personality, the president must persuade by showing other politicians how can his interests can benefit theirs. Secondly, professional reputation is a factor that show how much people can believe in you. The president directs the executive branch of the federal government and is the commander-in-chief of the United States Armed Forces. In contemporary times, the president is looked upon as one of the world's most powerful political figures and as the leader of the only remaining global superpower.[11][12][13][14] The role includes responsibility for the world's most expensive military that has the second largest nuclear arsenal. The president also leads the nation with the largest economy by nominal GDP.
Presidency should define the roles of any other president and any worker which is below the presidency in the United States. However, the country`s effectiveness forms the basis for the stability and any other desirable characteristics in their country. In chapter two, the political crisis, Bacevich moves inside the beltway in order to examine the main causes of the current disarray in the United America.
One person (the president) cannot possibly have the knowledge or the ability to know what is best for the country. If this was the case, the United States would be run more like a dictatorship. Our government is one of the most powerful in the world; it has made it a point to insert our values, beliefs and ideas into other foreign countries through foreign policy making. Congress is very important and should always be. Since Congress controls how the money is to be spent, and how much they should spend, they should have a say in foreign policy making.
The movie, The American President, depicts several reliable roles that the president performs, as well as, some of the aspects of our political system. It is a romantic comedy that takes place in the White House, during primary season. The president, Andrew Shepperd, is a widower, with a daughter, who is hoping to be reelected and pass two bills. One related to gun control and the other on fuel restrictions. While watching the movie, I noticed several key roles that the president played; all of which gave him the qualities of a realistic president.
President’s power is seen as persuasive because it involves bargaining that stems from their position, status, and prestige (Howell). Because the president’s power is more in a persuasive scale, he has scarce sources to reach the large expectations of the public. The President takes his ideas for new policies and expectations to the office but to achieve it, he must work together with the Congress (Neustadt 30). Second, the unilateral perspective from William G. Howell comprehends presidential power as a power beyond persuasion and negotiation with the Congress. For this perspective, presidents have direct power on government and public policy.
The president’s job is easy……..or is it? Here are a few reasons why the president has a tough job. First of all, the president has to lead an entire country! If that’s not tough, I don’t know what is. But that’s not all the president has to do.
The next major objective of our president when it comes to foreign affairs is building and maintaining a peaceful global structure. This is key when it comes to forming and building alliances around the world. Finally, the last major objective of our president when it comes to foreign relations is protecting economic relations with the rest of the world. (Janda 333) As you see a lot of our nation’s success thrives off of foreign relations and it is up to our president to sustain and continue to build these partnerships.
“The president 's power is felt all over the world.” No nation is so remote from the U.S. that they can avoid the repercussions of American diplomacy. The president can abuse their powers and it will affect the U.S as well as other countries that associate with us. “The formal powers as listed in the Constitution say little about a modern president 's real power.” Modern presidents have way more power than was is listed in the constitution, they do not have to follow the guidelines completely like past presidents would have had to.
Because the presidency has changed, the president gaining too much power has come into question. While the presidency has gained more power in the past 20-30 years, the president does not have too much power because he was not given very many in the first place,
During times of need, this country turns to our presidents for guidance, reassurance, and answers. Citizens
In this role the president is their there to hopefully help protect the help and not let something pass that may end up hurting the people more then it would help protect them. - I dont really think one role that the president has is more important then any of the other roles. Each one of them is very important and if they are not handled in the right way it could end up in a disaster. It
Suddenly, in the 1950s, Richard Neustadt revolutionized the established, constitutional view by breathing life into the presidency, disclosing the fact that much about Presidents were “off the books” and “behind the scenes” to the public. This new lens forgoes the constitutional viewpoint, and redefines the presidency in one phrase: “the pursuit of presidential power… is good for the country as well as for him” (Nelson 2010). It is now the person controlling the office rather than the office dictating and constraining the man within it. Moreover, he emphasizes the notion “presidential power is the power to persuade” (Nelson 2010). This concept is seen when one consider President Obama, the professor who sought to explain complex policy to

There is one thing for sure and that is that the President has the hardest job in the world. He does everything that he can to help keep our country safe and make sure that everything runs well. When it first started the founding fathers set out to make a small government and not very big decisions.
